Content creation is an important part of the online side of your business. Having regular content being uploaded to your website is very important for a number of reasons. It helps to bring traffic to your website, improve the SEO of your website and help to promote you as a leader in your industry. The more relevant, up to date content that you have on your website – the better your position will be.

There is a concept that is now out there called Evergreen Content and this is a concept that many are starting to adapt within their businesses when it comes to their online content.

How do I create Evergreen Content?

When you are creating the content for your website, keep in mind the Evergreen content concept. When creating your articles and providing your information try to steer clear of statistics that may go out of date, current trends predictions for the future. These are all things that change over time, meaning that they will become outdated.

Stick to articles which provide information that will continue to be relevant such as answering FAQ’s, ‘how to’ articles and information on the industry and the workings of it.

Before uploading your content, read back over it and ask yourself if it would still be relevant next year.

Should ALL my content be Evergreen?

Although the Evergreen Content will be the content that stays relevant for years to come, you can still have content on your website which is outside of the concept.

Writing about current news events that have an important impact are still great articles to have. They do go out of date, however they are a type of article that will still continue to be read over time and used for history note taking. These kinds of articles are also a great way to get people onto your website and then with the other engaging content that you have, you are more likely to have them return to you.

Product releases are also a good piece of content to have on your website, they may go out of date if the product is removed, however they are a great way to look back at how far you have come.

The content that you put out on the internet is really very important. It shows the type of business you are, the abilities you have as a business and the efforts that you are going to for your customers or clients.

So remember, keep it relevant, up to date and interesting - Easy Right!

And... think about whether it will still be useful in a years time.
